The TRUTH About WoW Leveling Guides . . . 99% Are CRAP!

If you are anything like me (wow addict . . .) you love World of Warcraft and look for tools to extend your game success. Enter the long list of guides, publications and sites touting you can speed to level 85 (or with Mists soon to be higher),  all for sometimes a hefty price.

With so many leveling guides to choose from how do you determine what is good and what is a waste of time and money? I set out to see how to answer this question for WoW players. Here is what many of them said:

“Most of the guides even the top names are pure CRAP. They are often direct copies of free stuff you can find with just a few minutes on Google.” – Belixi

“A lot of guides promise so much but deliver very little except outdated materials. Few have any in game features or have stood the test of time.” – Maximus

I was shocked to see that these statements are jut the tip of the iceberg. Many players resent being duped and spending money for a crappy guide or system of guides that look impressive but the content is really lacking.

For example in a popular guide (Zygor) much of the written content is directly copied from older posts and guides (much of which was free in the first place) and not original work. You can cut and paste some of their content into Google and see sometimes the EXACT same things in much older websites (before they made their guides) posts and forums.

“I have bought several guides expecting real tips and most of what I read was so basic I actually laughed. Everybody knows you can make money using the AH; flipping stuff, buying cheap and selling higher, buying stacks and sitting on them until they become scarce is basic stuff.  Why should I pay for a guide that says this is cutting edge info?”-Altwarrior

What are YOU looking for in a leveling guide? I know that I was looking for something that is:
1. EASY to use
2. Runs in the game ( I mean logging off and on to use the info sucks bigtime)
3. Works for EVERY profession, trade, skill and helps with achievements
4. Adjusts to your character so no matter your level you are on track
5. Teaches you how to make gold quickly and easily
6. Works well with any character, class, achievements and all seamless with the game

It took me a while to evaluate a long list of guides. Quite frankly 99% sucked because they were mostly rehashed BS that was downloaded from OTHER guides or sources that have been online for YEARS and stolen almost verbatim (copy and paste any part of your “guide” if its article based I guarantee you will often find that it was COPIED word for word and pasted into the guide you just spent good money on).

This really pissed me off. I have spent good money on these guides and they all touted how their information was “cutting edge” and made by top WoW players in the game.

The Real Truth -
What I found is that most of these guides are jobbed out to some over seas sweat shop and are filled with bad english, crappy advice and none of the stuff I mentioned above. The same is true if there are video tutorials.
